The best Reese 5th wheel hitch for your 2023 Chevy Silverado 3500 with the factory 5th wheel puck system is the M5, and there are a couple of options, depending on the weight capacity you want:

- 27,000 lbs: Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # RP58FR

- 20,000 lbs: Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package # RP26FR

The quality of the M5 comes in a number of different forms, starting with its Talon jaw system. This jaw system is different than other hitches because it is always ready to accept the king pin, so you can just back in and hook up, making it a lot easier to use than other hitches.

The Talon is also a single-piece jaw system, which means it will always fully envelop the king pin (as opposed to slack that can occur with a dual-jaw system); this greatly reduces how much your king pin moves in the hitch, giving you a more stable and comfortable ride. It also has a handy color indicator system which will turn from red to green to let you know if the jaws on the hitch are locked around the king pin, taking any guesswork out of the equation. And the head of the M5 is able to be offset by 1-1/2" front or back so you have the optimal amount of turning clearance.

You will have to go with a sliding hitch to allow the trailer to make tight turns. For a trailer 8 feet wide the only bed length that's going to allow 90 degree turns without a slider is a stationary hitch. That being said you have two options.…
