Video Transcript for Trailer Valet Tandem Axle Trailers Wheel Dolly Review

AJ What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we're going to be checking out the trailer valet wheel dolly. So if you look over here on the side of our trailer, we have a tandem axle trailer, we have the wheel dolly in place that's lifting up that axle up off the ground. So now we can maneuver the trailer like it's a single axle trailer. Let's check it out. Now, this is a good setup especially when you're using it with the trailer valet.

Now, this is going to help you maneuver the tandem axle trailer far better than you did without. You can still move it back and forth with this setup, but with those other wheels on the ground, it's not going to want to go side-to-side. Now, with them on there, we can pivot it and move it side-to-side far easier. Let's go ahead and show you that now. Now, when we're moving the trailer, you can see how easy I turn it this way, because it's acting like it only has one axle.

(whirring of trailer valet motor) Now we'd maneuver it out the same way to maneuver it back in. (whirring of motor on trailer valet) You don't have the trailer dragging or any skipping trying to do a sharp turn. (whirring of trailer valet motor) Taking a closer look at the dolly it's going to have a sturdy steel construction with a black powder coat finish on there. You don't have to worry about it rusting or corroding on you when you're using it. The castors are going to be made out of polyurethane, so those are going to hold up to services in how we used in our parking lot quite a bit today, going back and forth.

It looks like it has marked them up just a little bit, but it did freely glide over our parking lot, which you can see is not perfect. There are cracks everywhere and it didn't really struggle with those at all. Now I talked about earlier how this is perfectly used with the trailer valet. Now you can also use these on single axle trailers or even vehicles. You can buy them in a quantity of one or two on our site.

You can put them on each tire for a vehicle. Get into a spot, you might not be able to actually pull into. That way you can maneuver it where you need to and push it into the garage. Same thing with a single axle trailer. If there's just a spot that you can't quite pull it into or don't feel like hooking up a vehicle to do that, you can put it on both of those tires and then easily just push it into the spot you want it to go. The wheel dolly's going to be able to handle 8,000 pounds vehicle weight, and then per dolly, 2,000 pounds. Now I'm maneuvering around the parking lot and just going to show you how well the castors work. You can see I have no issues going in any direction. It's just rolling around. Then something else I was concerned about was in the parking lot with the cracks or anything, if you have a trailer on there, is that going to not be able to travel it as well since the wheels is the way they're set up But, you see the castors go over that, no problem. They don't get stuck. I can slide it around there and it just keeps gliding. Something to keep an eye out for though is going to be clearance underneath your trailer. We measure it from the bottom of our castor here to the top of one of these rollers. It's going to be eight and a quarter inches. You're going to need that clearance for this to fully slide up to the tire. You can see right now we do have it around there. It is hitting a shackle here in the middle, so it's not going to completely press against the tire, which should not be a good idea to try and lift it that way. They are also going to be really easy to install. You don't need any tools whatsoever. You just slide it up to your tire and get started. Check out how I did it. We're going to be here, on the side of our trailer. We've got tandem axle here. We're going to put this on the front section, the front axle, so it's going to go around the tire here and it's going to help us move it side-to-side far easier. We have the dolly set up. You can slide it out to adjust to different sizes. So right now, we have it all the way out. And then push it in. That's how we're going to adjust it when we get it in place. So get back to this position. Use it to slide up around the tire. When you slide the wheel dolly into place, you want to make sure the tires are on our silver rollers here on the side. It's going to make it far easier when you go to lower it down to make sure the ratchet disengages and lowers it safely. Flip our switch into this position and now we can start using the lever. "Pull" pushes down. You can already see it coming in from the sides. It's starting to lift up that tire. It's easy pushes on that lever and it's already off the ground. Looking closer at it, you can see how it reacts. Every step I do on the lever, the sides come in and push up on that tire. So the tire is on those rollers and that's what's lifting it up off the ground with each push of the pedal. Now, looking down at the castors, there is a button you can hit to put them and lock them in position. That way if you don't have the wheel trolley set up you don't want it to slide around you. You can push down on that and that will lock it in place. You want to do that with both of the castors here on the outside, in that position. Now, when you're ready to use it, just walk over, hit the switch the other way and they're unlocked. Now when not in use, you have a hook here to keep the handle in place. Overall, I think it does work really well. I like that it really made it easier to use the trailer valet in conjunction with these. Just made it easier to move that trailer back and forth as you saw, pulling in or out of a tight spot. Well, I think that does it. Thanks for hanging out and I hope this helps.

VERY hard to jack up the first few times. I had to stand on the lever with all my weight and jump on it to get it to lift enough to allow trailer to turn. Works better now after a few uses by still requires a lot of force. On first use one of the casters threw almost all of its bearings rolling over a small, level expansion seem in my concrete pad. Still works but not smooth like it should. This product improves the the ability to position my boat trailer but it is not nearly the A+ remedy I had hoped - especially for the price.

We ordered a trailer valet and wheel dolly set from etrailer some time back. We received the trailer valet however the dollies were caught up in supply chain problems and were just delivered today. As it is the middle of December we most likely will not have the opportunity to try them out right away and therefore I can't really give them a valid star rating. We did try the valet to move the trailer in our driveway without the dollies which was hard to do and I expect the dollies will be quite an improvement and hopefully warrant a 5 star rating. I do salute the staff at etrailer for keeping us informed of the status of our order.

A back saver. I would not use anything but my wheel dolly. I wouldn’t use anything else.

by:

I haven't had an opportunity to use this yet, but it appears quite substantial and well made. Looking forward for a chance to try it out.

by:

Did not work well on expose aggregate driveways. Too difficult using the Jack portion to raise the tire our needs to be extended longer on jack lever

by:

The concept is good on this product but the wheels are awful. I have alot of trouble getting the wheels to grip. This has occurred on multiple surfaces from concrete to asphalt. I wish I would have paid more nd bought the motorized one. Thinking of selling this one and doing that.

by:

Works great for boat trailers

by:

Dolly set arrived in destroyed and taped box.
Dollys did not sustain any damage amid styrofoam pieces.
I think 70lb box is hard to handle, you might think about splitting shipping.

by:

As always with everything I have ordered from etrailer.com has been excellent both in quality and service.

by:

Quality materials and build. Works as advertised. My shipping box was filling part when I received it but there was no damage.

  • Will The Trailer Valet RVR Work With a Tandem Axle Pontoon Boat Trailer?
When using the Trailer Valet with a tandem axle trailer it is recommended to use the Trailer Valet Trailer Wheel Dollies # TV56FR under the rear wheels. The dollies will provide you with much better turning radius, as the tires will try and bind up when taking sharp turns otherwise. I see you were looking at the RVR3 # TVRVR3-BB225 which is only rated for a trailer up to 3,500lbs with 165-350lbs of tongue weight. If your trailer and pontoon weight more than 3,500lbs together you will...

  • Can Trailer Valet Wheel Dollies Be Used To Assist In Loading a Low Profile Vehicle In a Car Hauler?
Yes, the Trailer Valet Trailer Wheel Dolly # TV56FR can be used to pull your low profile vehicle up a ram into a car hauler trailer. Do note the smaller diameter wheels will require as smooth as a surface as possible for loading and each dolly is rated up to 2,000lbs. A better option would be to use some Trailer Loading Assist Ramps # RR-TR-5 as these will reduce the angle of the ramp and make it easier to load and unload your low profile vehicles.

  • Wheel Dollies For Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly Allowing Tighter Turning With Tandem Axle Trailer
There is nothing wrong with your Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly # TVXL25. It is not able to make tight turns with a tandem axle as that creates tension since the wheels are trying to slide across the surface rather than roll. The Trailer Valet Trailer Wheel Dollies # TV56FR you found are exactly what you need to be able to maneuver your trailer more easily. These are recommended to be placed under the front axle to raise the front wheels off the ground and are more than capable of supporting...
