Does Yakima Holdup Bike Rack Have Capacity for Giant E-Bike
Question:
I have a Holdup Hitch 2-Bike Rack - which works great. However, we have two Giant E-Bikes with 29inch tires and therefore a wheel-base which is a bit wider than convenient for the bikes. The rear while hangs down enough to keep the front wheel not well in the groove due to the weight of the bike. See attached photo. All it would take is a cross bar on the rack thats about 4 inches longer, and the bike would sit upright in the back bracket and the problem would be solved. Do you have replacement brackets for this purpose? It would seem that this request comes up a lot with larger bikes.

I looked up the weight of the Giant E-Bikes and it looks like you have an Explore model which depending on how it's equipped could be over the 60 lb weight capacity of the Holdup # Y02443. We don't have any rack modifications that we can make for your rack though. Best solution unfortunately would be a rack designed for the weight like the Thule EasyFold XT part # TH903202 which also comes with a ramp that pulls out to make loading and unloading easier as well.
