Upgrading To Larger Tire Size on 2015 Jayco Jay Feather X254
Question:
Hi, Let me start off by stating that Im a total newb when it comes to rv wheels and such. I have a 2015 Jayco Jayfeather x254 with 13 wheels, Tire info is ST175/80/R13 8PR Load Range D. It looks like I have enough clearance to go to a 14 wheel. Ive been told that a 14 tire is more common than the 13 that I have. What would I need to look at to upgrade to a 14 with a Load Range of E?

If you want to upgrade to a 14" tire on your 2015 Jayco Jay Feather X254 you will need to check your clearance. At a minimum you want at least 3" of clearance on top of the tire and 2" of clearance on the inside.
A tire and wheel combo like the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Tire w 14" Bobcat Aluminum Wheel # 274-000013 has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern and load range of D. This should be more than enough since it will already have a significantly higher capacity compared to your current tires. This tire also comes with a 5-year warranty and 1-year no excuses guarantee.
The outer diameter of the tire is 26.1" and it has an 8" section width. A ST175/80R13 like the # AM10210 has an outer diameter of 24.1" and a 7" section with. This means you will lose approximately 1/2" of clearance on the inside and 1" on the top. I recommend measuring to be sure. As long as you have the clearance you can move to the larger size without any issues.
