Recommend Parts to Convert a 30,000 lbs Gooseneck Hitch to a 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I have a Big Tex 25GN 40 trailer with a gooseneck hitch. I also have a 2020 Ram 3500 that I use to pull it. I would like to convert them both over to a fifth wheel. Do you have the parts for the conversion? If so, can you provide the part numbers? I need 30k capacity.

Yes, we do have the parts you need to convert your Big Tex trailer over to a 5th wheel hitch. You will want the Ram Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter item # KPG5-R30IP. It has a 30,000 lbs capacity.

The Ram Adapter item # KPG5-R30IP replaces the inner tube only and can be bolted on to your Big Tex 25GN's existing outer tube. This adapter has a 4" diameter so it should fit but you will want to confirm before ordering.

If you end up needing to replace the entire coupler and not just the inner tube you will want the Ram Gooseneck to 5th Wheel Trailer Coupler Adapter item # KPG5-R30.

To add a 30,000 lbs capacity 5th wheel hitch to your 2020 Ram 3500 you will want the, Curt PowerRide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # C22ER. This is our highest capacity 5th wheel hitch and the 2 jaw locking system will provide you with a secure and comfortable ride.

You will need the Curt Semi-Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit item # C25BR to attach the Curt PowerRide. This is the only industry standard 5th wheel kit that is strong enough for a 30,000 lbs 5th wheel hitch. This is a semi-custom kit so it will require some drilling. Again this is the only option to achieve the 30,000 lbs capacity you are looking for.

If you do not already have one, I recommend adding the Curt 5th Wheel/Gooseneck Custom Wiring Harness w/ 7-Pole Connector - 10' Long item # C56000 to your 2020 Ram 3500. This harness puts a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck and allows you to keep the one on your bumper. This makes hooking up to your 5th wheel trailer easier and more convenient.
