Erickson E-Track 5 Foot Installation on a Utility Trailer for Hauling a Golf Cart

Question:

Just purchased a 2013 Aluma Utility trailer to haul my EZGO golf cart around. After trying to tie the cart down via the roll bar and eventually the frame, the ratchet tie downs came loose both times. I have decided to go w/ tire tie downs and the e-track tie down system. My main concern is the installation of the E-track on to the aluminum floor. What is the best way for me to install the e-track? How do I do this? What additional parts do I have to purchase to get this done? Thanks,

To install the Erickson E-Track 5 foot section # E19148 on your trailer you can use rivets, screws, or weld it to the trailer. Since your trailer is aluminum, welding may not be an option since the E-Track is steel. I recommend using screws, or bolts and nuts, and backing plates like the etrailer # e96RR.

Another option that some of our other customers have done, is to use additional E-Track on the bottom of their trailer, and liked the option of having additional tie down locations. (Rob's review on 6/4/2012 product # E19148)

You would install either the backing plates, or additional E-track, on the under side of the trailer to line up with the mounting holes on the E-Ttrack. Make sure that you use screws or bolts and nuts that are the correct strength rating and dimensions. The mounting holes on the E-Track are 1/4 inch in diameter and are spaced 2 inches apart on center.

Also keep in mind, when mounting the E-track make sure that your attachment hardware is also secured to the frame and or crossmembers of the trailer.

You can then use the wheel strapping system of your choice. I have included links to these parts as a couple of videos for your reference.
