Operation of Auto-Leveling Air Suspension in 2003 Cadillac Escalade Hitched to a Car Trailer
Question:
loaded car trailer to my 2003 escalade last nite. this morning the rear end of the escalate was bottomed out or close to the ground! After starting the escalate, the air pump came on and jacked the car to normal position. My question - is it safe to tow the loaded trailer and is the electric pump be able to keep the shocks @ a safe load level. Is this a normal phenomena that happens when leaving car loaded overnight?

The Cadillac Escalade has an optional auto-leveling air suspension system that will activate to bring the vehicle rear back up to a level position. Generally speaking it is preferable to have the tow vehicle and trailer level (or very near to level) when hitched and towing.
The 2003 Escalade has a towing capacity in the range of 7000-lbs. This figure will vary slightly based on the specific version you have. If the weight of your loaded car trailer is within the tow capacity of the vehicle and all other components in the system (hitch, ball mount, etc) are adequately rated then you should be able to safely tow the trailer. I suggest you refer to your owners manual to confirm the tow rating for your specific Escalade and for any restrictions or limitations related to towing, or to the use of the air suspension with trailer loads.
You may also want to speak to your local dealership to find out if the air suspension system is supposed to stay inflated when left overnight. If not you may have a leak in your system.
