How To Determine The Weight Capacity Of An Old Reese Weight Distribution System
Question:
I have an older Reese weight distributing adjustable height ball mount, probably from about 1980 or so if I recall. Is there any way to determine the rated capacity of it. I can send pics if that would help. Numbers Ive found on the casting are E67,E67, and what looks like 65820, but is very hard to read. It could be 65520.

The head on your weight distribution system will not determine the system's capacity. Instead the system's capacity is determined by the springs bars installed on the system. For example, a system rated for 200-600 lbs of tongue weight (TW) will use the same weight distribution head as a system rated for 900-1,200 lbs of tongue weight (TW).
Therefore, in order to determine the tounge weight (TW) capacity of your current Reese weight distribution system, you will need to locate the serial numbers on the end of the springs bars. These numbers are usually 5 digits long, starting with a "2" and ending with an alphabetic letter.
I called my contact at Reese and they could not reference any of the numbers you have provided. If you can find the numbers on the end of the spring bars then I would be glad to help you determine the system's operating range.
