Class V Trailer Hitch Receiver Option For 2023 Thor Challenger Motorhome on Ford F-53 Chassis
Question:
Im looking for a Class V trailer hitch for my 2023 Thor Challenger with the F53 chassis. The hitch that came with the RV has broken at the bend and caused the hitch to sag down. I don't know the tongue weight of the trailer I tow, but the roads across the USA don't help either. I had to get the hitch on my old RV beefed up to handle this trailer.

We have a couple options for a heavy-duty Class V hitch, and while there is not a custom-fit option for your Thor Challenger motorhome on a Ford F-53 chassis, you can still add a weld-on hitch. From my research, the rear frame on the F-53 chassis is 34 inches from outside to outside, but you'll need to measure the distance you need from the bottom of the frame to the top of the receiver. Once you know that, you can choose from any of the following Class V hitches:
- 3" Drop From Frame: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # 15901
- 10.865" Drop From Frame: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # 15902
- 18" Drop From Frame: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch w/ Brackets # C99CR
The hitch with the 3" drop and 10.865" (about 7/8") drop have 15,000 lb towing and 1,500 lb tongue weight capacities while the hitch with the 18" drop has a 16,000 lb towing and 1,600 lb tongue weight capacity.
