Solution for Raising Utility Trailer to Gain Axle and Tire Clearance
Question:
I have a 6x12foot utility trailer. It has a 3500# Lippert axle on it and Truryde DE-7242 double eye leaf springs on it. They measure 25.25“ eye to eye. Unloaded the tires are very close to the fender and the bow in the axle is very close to the under decking. I bet both would touch with a full load and a large enough bump. Question: Will 3/4 of in inch be a big deal? Going from my 25.25inch springs to this 26inch spring? I could not seem to find an answer on the interwebs so I figured Id ask the experts. TIA

The additional 3/4" is not enough to cause a problem if you added the # e22YR to your trailer. However, as these wear out and flatten over time you will still lose clearance and potentially have the same problem.
To gain additional clearance permanently, I recommend using the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 instead. This will allow you to flip the axle so the leaf springs will sit on top. Doing so will raise your trailer the diameter of the axle and plus the height of the leaf spring stack.
