Question:

hi. i have a cougar bumper pull. 28rls. it came with a fic3500 power tongue jack. busted due to theft. i want to upgrade to possibly heavier jack. possibly 4000 to 5000. will the mounting bolt pattern be the same for most power jacks? thanks

Electric A-frame trailer jacks often have the same bolt pattern, yes. Just keep in mind that a higher-capacity jack doesn't necessarily mean more speed, it's all about the jack itself. For example, the 3,500 lb Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack # UF38-944017 extends 6" in 25.3 seconds (with 1,000 lbs of tongue weight), while the 4,000 lb Bulldog Trailer Jack # BD500200 extends 6" in 28.5 seconds (with 1,000 lbs of tongue weight).

That said, since you mentioned wanting a heavier-duty jack, the absolute best upgrade for your FIC 3500 is an option from Ultra-Fab, the 4,000 lb Phoenix:

- Phoenix Electric Trailer Jack # UF38-944040

The Phoenix # UF38-944040 is as good as it gets for a jack due to its speed - it extends 6" in a blazing 9.5 seconds (with 1,000 lbs of tongue weight). Not only is it the fastest jack you can get, it also offers the exact same 22-1/2" of total travel as your FIC 3500. So you won't be losing anything, you'll just be gaining capacity and speed.
