Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser

Question:

Hi, is there a certain trans cooler you have seen used on a Toyota fj and would recommend over the others? My auto trans is a seal unit no dip stick. Also is there a video on the cooler installation on a fj or 4runner. Thanks for all the information.

There are coolers recommended for the 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with the 4.0 liter engine. I have included a link to them for you. Cooler # D13503 that you referenced is one of the recommended coolers. The only vehicles that cannot have transmission coolers installed are manual transmission vehicles and vehicles that have the CVT transmission.

There are other systems that are completely closed off meaning there are no accessible hoses to allow installation of a cooler. You will need to check under your vehicle to determine if it is set up this way. If so a supplemental cooler cannot be installed.

We do not have a video specifically on an FJ Cruiser or 4Runner but installation is just about the same on every vehicle with few exceptions. I have included a link to a video on a Honda Pilot. Installation on your FJ Cruiser, if permissible, will be very similar.
