Is it a Good Idea to Replace 25 Year Old Blue Ox Tow Bar
Question:
I have a older Blue Ox tow bar # BX7335, probably 25 years old. I just bought a Jeep with a aftermarket front bumper with the 1 D rings welded to the bumper. I have the three finger Blue Ox tow bar adapters now but need the BX88358 tow bar adapters for the Jeep bumper. Do you know if the BX88358 adapters will work on my older Blue Ox tow bar? Also I was told that RV tow bars should be replaced at 10 to 15 years of age? Why would that be? Fatigue of the tow bar parts and or fatigue of the tow bar materials it is built from? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Blue Ox Off-Road Bumper Adapters for Blue Ox Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars # BX88358 would fit your older Blue Ox tow bar but it is recommended to replace older tow bars like what you have for the reasons you mentioned. The metal does eventually fatigue which will eventually lead to failure. The Avail # BX7420 would be a really great option for a replacement. It has a 10k capacity, non-binding arms, and also has longer arms which helps the vehicle track better behind the tow vehicle.
