Recommendations for Raising Trailer Height To Prevent Dragging on Ground When Backing Into Driveway

My trailer currently has 205/75R14 on a single axle. I have a clearance problem when backing into my driveway and was wondering if I could put taller tires to help bring up the height of the trailer. There seems to be enough clearance in the wheel well to accommodate a taller tire. Thanks!!

I have a couple items you might consider before trying to add larger tires and wheels. The first is a Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # LC87120. This will allow you to lift your trailer 1-1/4" or 2-1/4" to gain the clearance needed not to drag on your driveway.

Next you can weld on the Ultra-Fab Steel Micro-Roller for Trailers # UF48-979021. This will protect the trailer from digging into your driveway and causing any damage. The wheels will allow for the trailer to roll rather than hitting a sharp edge.

With larger tires and wheels you may run into fitment issues. Your current ST205/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10235 is 8.1" wide and 26.3" tall. Keeping the same wheel size the ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10229 is 8.5" wide and 26.8" tall. You will have to measure your current tire to ensure you still have 1" of sidewall clearance and 3" of clearance on the tread face for the suspension to travel. Do keep in mind this will only give you 1/4" of additional height for your trailer and with going to much larger tires they will be much stiffer than your current tires causing the trailer to bounce more since the tires will not absorb road shock as well.
