Recommended Roof Rack Load Assist For Truck With Camper Roof Rack That Is 7-1/2' From The Ground

Question:

My truck camper is 7.5foot tall. It looks like the vertical support bar is just short of that. Would you have any suggestions how I could still use that bar? Im thinking about just using a wood block under the pole to give a bit more height.

Expert Reply:

With the height of your truck camper at 7-1/2' tall I recommend using a Inno Kayak Lifter Load Assist # INA453. This will clamp onto your crossbars up to 3-1/2" wide and 1-1/8" tall and fits a crossbar spread of 27-39". Since it is clamped onto your crossbars you will not have to concern yourself with the limited height of the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist # RR-RUSL only extending to 7'3-1/8" tall. Or having to try to position the bar on the crossbars every time you load and unload your accessory.

While placing a block under the vertical bar would place it high enough to be able to use, there is always the possibility of it slipping off the block and damaging the load assist and possibly your vehicle.
