Great question, lets walk through some troubleshooting steps and figure this out.

**Digital Multimeter with 42" Long Test Leads - LED Display # PT89ZR.

Since we will be troubleshooting I recommend you get a multimeter like the digital one linked above.

First, make sure you have the thermostat on the right setting. I know it seems obvious but sometimes we just forget to switch it over from hot to cold or vice versa.

Next turn the thermostat to at least 5 degrees different than the outside temp. This is checking to make sure that the unit is reading and detecting the changes and trying to adjust.

If it has batteries and isn't hardwired I would replace them.

Clean the thermostat out, I use a can of compressed air and make sure there is no dust or grime build up in the unit that will prevent the proper air flow to the inside sensor.

Next check the wiring and make sure that you are getting ample power through all the correct wires. While doing this disconnect them and reconnect them to make sure that you are getting the best connection.

If none of this helps you will need to have a profesional look at it and or have it replaced. If you need that to happen give us your make and model and we can get you the right parts to get things working.
