What does the 85 in a tire description mean

Sounds like you are asking about the aspect ratio of a tire size. Like for example the part # TTWTRTM2358016E which happens to be a ST235/80R16. The 80 is the percent of the width that the sidewall height is on the tire. So to use easy numbers if the width of the tire was 10 inches the sidewall height would be 8 inches.
