Bumper Clearance Offered by Roadmaster RM-077-6 Dual Hitch Adapter

Question:

I need to know how long the shaft is from hitch to back of dual hitch. I need at least 71/2inch to clear the bumper. I have a 2018 Winnabego Vita and need this dual for bikes and flat tow car. thanks

The spacing between the back of the upper receiver and the hitch pin hole is 6-1/2 inches, which wouldn't be long enough for your needs.

The Malone # MPG544 dual hitch adapter has a longer shank, and might be a good option for you. The # MPG544 measures 9 inches between the back of the 2nd receiver and the hitch pin hole, which could provide the bumper clearance you're needing. You'll need to measure rearward from your hitch pin hole to see if that 9 inches of spacing would be enough, since I don't know how you arrived at the 7-1/2 inch measurement you provided.

Using the Malone # MPG544 will reduce the hitch tongue weight capacity by half, but since flat towing a vehicle doesn't apply any tongue weight to the hitch, you should be fine as long as the weight of the bike rack and the bikes carried on it doesn't exceed half the hitch tongue weight capacity. You should be able to find the capacity on a label affixed to the hitch on your motorhome.
