Brake Controller Solution for 2021 Ford F-150 Made After August 2021
Question:
So I have a 2021 F-150 but it was built prior to August 2021. Looking at Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller - 1 to 4 Axles - Proportional Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers Part Numbers: 90195,22292 it says 2021 F-150 built before August 2021 do NOT have provision for plugging into the truck and need to be hardwired. So there is no port under the dash for an easy plug and play installation ? Thanks for any advice.

It is really odd but yes, the earlier models of the 2021 Ford F-150 do not have the brake controller install port so you'd need to hardwire the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 to the truck.
For a wiring kit to install the brake controller to the 7-way you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied and none when not applied. This will be the circuit you will run the red wire to.
Finally you will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The # 10-1-1 is sold by the foot so you will need to order a quantity of the amount of feet you will need.
