How Much Does Reese M5 5th Wheel Hitch Weigh for 2020 Ram 3500

Question:

What is the weight of this hitch, or what are the weights of the various parts that can be disassembled to be removed from the bed of a truck? How many parts would that be? I take mine in and out and cant lift more than about 75 lbs without the potential of injury. I have a 2020 Ram with the OE pucks installed.

The Reese M5 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package # RP37FR altogether weighs in at 195 lbs when it comes to shipping so we are looking at about 190 lbs without the shipping packaging.

The head assembly alone that you remove weighs in at 48 lbs which means the rest of the base weighs about 140 lbs. You can technically take the center section and remove it from the legs which essentially splits that weight in half but that's going to be more work and I don't think it will be great for the hardware to be torqued down and then removed that much.

To help you load/unload the Reese M5 I recommend checking out the Demco 5th Wheel Lifting Bracket # DM6100 which can be used with a hoist system to lift and lower the hitch.

If you'd rather stick with a lighter 5th wheel hitch and you don't need the 27K weight rating then you might be interested in the Demco Recon # DM8550045-5W which mounts to your OEM gooseneck hitch ball and only weighs in at 150 lbs for shipping. The head and center section are much easier to remove so you would be able to move this around by yourself if 75 lbs is what you can handle. If you don't have the OEM gooseneck hitch ball you can find that on our site with part # C58CR.

I've attached some videos for you to check out.
