Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 7,000 Pound Car Hauler

Question:

My tow rig is a 2014 ram 1500. I tow a car hauler that’s is 6500-7000 fully loaded and ready to go. I don’t get bad sway just want a more level rig... right now I have air bags but to get level I’ve got run 50psi in the airbags so I thought a weight distribution hitch might be better.. I just don’t know which one will suit me better

When it comes to choosing a weight distribution hitch the most important factor is tongue weight. Ideally you want your tongue weight to be in the middle of the systems rating, and tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the weight of your loaded trailer.

Based on the weight of your car hauler I would recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-1000. This system is rated for 600-1,000 lbs of tongue weight which will work well with your trailer. This system will keep your trailer level and uses clamp-on brackets for installation.

This does have 2 point sway control, and although you don't get bad sway it won't hurt to have the additional help. You would also need a # EQ91-00-6080 for a 2" ball or # EQ91-00-6100 for a 2-5/16" ball along with the # ALL643216 for installation.

Since you will be installing the weight distribution hitch with air bags, make sure to inflate your air bags to the desired pressure before setting up your WDH.

I have attached some review videos and helpful articles on weight distribution for your reference.
