Video Transcript for Performance Tool Cordless Soldering Iron Review

Today we'll be having a look at the Performance Tools cordless soldering iron, part number PTW2000. Here's what our soldering iron looks like. As you can see, it's a cordless soldering iron. Has a protective cap included and even comes with a little bit of solder. The soldering iron is powered by four AA batteries, you have to provide your own, has two power settings, low and high, and has an LED indicator, lets you know if it's turned on or not right here. The brighter the LED is, it's shows you if it's on the higher setting or the lower setting. The soldering iron is equivalent to an eight watt soldering iron. It's heats up to the maximum temperature of 572 degrees Fahrenheit, and will reach 365 degrees Fahrenheit almost immediately. I have two pieces of wire here. We're going to show you how to do a wire repair with a soldering iron.

Strip off some insulation from both wires, we'll insert the wire onto each other and then twist them together like so. Now we'll make a permanent connection with the soldering iron. Turn on our soldering iron, I'm going to use the maximum setting today so I'll switch the switch to the second position and let it heat up. Once it reaches it's temperature, we'll know because the solder will melt. Okay, now that we have solder worked all the way in, we'll shut our soldering iron off, let it cool off. You can see now how the solder's worked it's way all the way into our wire making a nice solid connection here.

Now we have one solid piece of wire versus two, and that completes our look at the Performance Tools cordless soldering iron, part number PTW2000.

  • Parts Needed To Wire a Tandem Axle Trailer With a 7-Way and Full Length Ground Wires
What you are looking to do is acceptable. Here are the parts I would use working on this type of project. The 25 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A25W2GWB has full length ground wires which will run down the side of each frame and carry the wiring for the tail lights and running lights. You will be able to cut off the 4-way and attach the wiring to a Junction Box # 3430001-JBK. The junction box includes ring terminals for connecting all the wires for the lights, brakes, and a 7-Way Cable...

  • Trailer Connector for Towing Surge Coupler Equipped Trailer With 2013 Toyota Tundra
I'll begin with the assumption that your new pontoon trailer has hydraulic surge brakes. This type of braking system uses a hydraulic coupler that compresses when the tow vehicle brakes, and the compression is what causes the brakes to actuate. A trailer like this usually uses a 5 pole flat trailer connector, with the extra circuit being the reverse lock out. The reverse lock utilizes a solenoid that prevents the brakes from applying with you attempt to back the trailer. Otherwise, especially...

  • Trailer Connector for Golf Cart
How you'd proceed will depend on how the existing taillights on the golf cart are wired. If it's a combined wiring system, where the turn signal and brake lamp are carried on the same circuit you can simply splice a 4 pole connector in using # 18252. Rather than using the quick splice connectors, I'd recommend soldering the connections and protecting them with heat shrink tubing like # DW05451. If you don't have a soldering iron, we offer a handy cordless model as part # PTW2000. If your...

  • Is It A Good Idea To Solder RVS Camera Splice Kit
For the Rear View Safety Splice Kit # RVS-SPK01 I think that is a great idea, soldering them together and protecting them with heat shrink will guarantee they are connected properly while protecting the connection from damage. To accomplish this, if you do not already have the tools you need, you can use a soldering iron like the Cordless Soldering Iron # PTW2000 and a solder spool like Solder Spool # FL0803490.

  • Recommended Replacement 4-Pole Trailer Connector for Wishbone Type Trailer Wiring Harness
The # 48195 would be a handy item to have around in case of emergency, but It's not a permanent fix and I wouldn't recommend using it for a 5 wire wishbone harness. The # 002402 would be a better choice but I prefer the Hopkins # HM48110 because of its larger gripping surface that makes using the connector much easier. For installation to your existing harness, you'd connect the two brown wires from the trailer harness to the brown wire on the # HM84110, then match up the yellow, green...

  • Replacing Switch on Ventline Trailer Roof Vent
Most likely the wires are soldered to the existing switch # BL0108-00 on your Ventline Roof Vent. To remove the wires you can either use a soldering iron like # PTW2000 on the wiring just enough that you can pull them free or if there is enough extra wiring you can simply cut them and reconnect them to the new switch after stripping the new ends.

  • Connectors for Trailer Wiring
I'm assuming you're speaking of Quick Splice connectors like part # SWC502905-1, correct? Making wiring splices using this type of connector is acceptable in an interior application, but I wouldn't recommend using them where the wiring is exposed in any way to the elements. If the connection will be exposed, I recommend soldering the connection and protecting it with heat shrink tubing like part # DW05451. If you don't have a soldering gun, we offer a cordless model as part # PTW2000.
