Is Power to Turn Signals Correct For Curt Wiring Harness C56175

Question:

Hi there, I am a little confused as to how the brake lights are activated with this unit. I hooked up the harness to my 88 Volvo 240 this model was recommended by my mechanic. The tail light has the double filament in the running light/brake light bulb. I checked for continuity on the brown wire, as this one is connected to the running lights, at the flat plug and didnt get any juice. There is power to both directionals with with the brake depressed. Is this correct? Will I get brake lights activated on my trailer? I have yet to pick it up and want to be sure all is going to work correctly when I do. The rest of the product went together smoothly. Thanks

Thank you for your purchase from etrailer of the Curt Circuit Protected Converter w/ SMT # C56175.

If the tail lights on your Volvo act as both the turn signals and the brake lights, you would have a combined system, and yes, you have it correct. I suspect this is exactly what you have though I was unable to verify the type of system on a 1988 Volvo 240. If you do not have a combined system and the lights and turn signals are on different lights, then you have it miswired and would need to find the correct wires that run to those lights.
