Troubleshooting Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Detector with Red Light Flashing on Propane

Question:

I just replaced my Atwood propane CO detector. Connected the wires same as on the old one. The green light is on and also the propane light is a steady flashing. Tried to reset but nothing happens. My old one 6 years old did the same.

The red blinking light on the light of the Atwood RV Carbon Monoxide and Propane Gas Detector AT36681 typically means that the propane sensor is disabled or faulty. Since you've already tried resetting the unit you'll want to make sure you are getting at least 9 volts to the unit. If the unit is getting proper power (~12v), this would indicate the unit is faulty and would need to be replaced.

I don't believe the Atwood units are still being made since they were sold to Dometic a few years back, so if the unit is faulty you may consider replacing it with the 2-Wire RV Propane Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detector - 12 Volt - White # RS34FR. This will provide the same functions as your old unit and is a 2 wire installation.
