Can the Thule Passage Trunk Rack Carry a Single 50-lb Electric Bike
Question:
My ebike is 50 pounds. If I get a trunk carrier that holds 2 or 3 bikes at 35 pounds each, shouldn’t that be sufficient to carry one ebike?

I may have a solution for you, but the Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - Hanging Style # TH910XT cannot carry a bike over 35-lbs because of the way the weight is distributed across the bars. I'll also add that there is not a trunk mounted bike rack that can be used to carry an E-bike that weighs 50-lbs; you may be able to remove the battery pack to get below that weight, which would allow you to use the Passage but it's highly unlikely.
The only solution that allows you to carry an e-bike with your 2018 Nissan Murano would be to add a trailer hitch like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98907, which has a 2" receiver. Once you've got a hitch you can carry your e-bike on a bike carrier designed to handle a heavy e-bike like the RockyMounts MonoRail Solo Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # RKY10007. The MonoRail can carry bikes up to 60-lbs, so it's well rated for your 50-lbs bike and it comes with a lock for the bike and a locking hitch pin to secure the bike rack to your Murano.
We do see questions like this quite often and unfortunately in this case, even with a single bike, you run the risk of having the carrier break since it's not designed for bikes of this size.
