Parts to Install Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller in 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/ No Tow Package

Question:

Hi - Im planning to install a Redarc Tow-Pro Elite brake controller in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep does not have a factory tow package Im having the Mopar tow hitch installed at the dealer this week. Im confused about which parts I need Ive seen a video on your site where I need heat-shrink things, and an expert QandA where it looks like there is a custom harness that plug-and-play installs without the splicing. Id like it to be as easy as possible. :- Can you let me know specifically what I need? Is it just the controller itself #RED44FR and this https://www.etrailer.com/p-RED77FR.html? -george PS: Im 95 sure thats what I need so Im going to order it, but please let me know if thats wrong and if so what I need instead.

If your 2015 Grand Cherokee doesn't have the factory 7-way, it won't be prewired for a brake controller, so you'd need to do a hardwire installation. It's not the end of the world, the install procedure isn't too difficult.

You'll need the Redarc Tow Pro Elite controller, part # RED24FR, our Brake Controller Install kit, part # ETBC7 and a # 118727 trailer wiring harness.

You'd begin by installing the # 118727 which would tap into the tailigiht circuits of your Grand Cherokee so the trailer can access them. The # ETBC7 kit includes an adapter to convert the 4 pin connector provided by the # 118727 to a 7-way, as well as all the hardware, wire and circuit breakers to complete the installation.

I've linked to an install video for the # 118727 plus to a video that runs through how the # ETBC7 kit works.
