Redarc Brake Controller Installation on 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 80th Anniversary

Question:

Considering this brake controller. Will I need any additional parts for this to work seeing some references on Jeep products needing adaptors. Also suggestions on where to place the controller for the best factory look?

Let's begin with the brake controller. Redarc makes a great product, but unless you plan on towing overland you won't ever need or use the user-controlled mode offered by the # RED44FR Tow-Pro Elite. I'd recommend the Redarc # RED24FR Tow-Pro Liberty which is a completely proportional controller which would work perfectly for the vast majority of folks. I'd hate to see you spend additional money on a feature you might not ever use.

If your Grand Cherokee is equipped with the Factory tow package with the 7-way trailer connector at the rear bumper (most are equipped this way) you'll need a wiring adapter which would allow you to plug the controller into the connector located under the dash just left of the top of the brake pedal. If you go with the # RED44FR Tow Pro Elite, you'd need the # 3045-S which would wire together with the pigtail included with the controller. If you go with the # RED24FR Tow Pro Liberty, you'd still need the # 3045-S harness, in addition to the # RED69FR pigtail which isn't included with the Liberty.

If your Grand Cherokee does NOT have the factory 7-way, it won't have the connector under the dash the controller would need to be hardwired. You'd first install a functional 4 pole trailer connector using part
# C62VR then use our # ETBC7 brake controller installation kit to compete the install. The kit includes an adapter to convert the 4 pole provided by the # C62VR into a 7-way as well as all the wire, hardware and circuit breakers needed to complete the installation.

The beauty of the Redarc controllers is that the controller itself can be concealed under the dash out of sight, while the control knob can be installed anywhere within easy reach of the driver. If an un-used switch knockout is available on the dash, you can use that or a mounting bezel like # 331-TPSI-001.

I've also linked to a bunch of video that run through the install scenarios mentioned above plus how each controller works.
