Troubleshooting a Journey HD Brake Controller for Flashing OC Code
Question:
trailer brakes were working fine. now when i apply the brakes the OC code flashes and the brakes lock up. The brakes are also locking up in unison with the turn signal.do you suppose this is due to corrosion in the trailer plug? i have it installed on a 2010 silverado 1500. it has the factory towing package and wiring is correct.

It is very likely that corrosion is causing the problem you are experiencing. I would recommend you check the back of the connector on the vehicle side as well as the trailer side connector for corrosion and clean as needed.
You may also have a loose or exposed wire that is causing the short, you should check for that also.
It sounds like corrosion or exposed wire has your blinker circuit shorted out to your brake output circuit and that is why your brakes are locking up with your blinker.
Check out the FAQ article I attached on trailer wiring also.
