Does Stealth Hitch with Wiring for 2018 Volvo V90 Require Trip to Dealer for Wiring

Question:

I still have a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 brake controller from an earlier purchase for a different vehicle. I wonder if I can use it for the Volvo V90 in a convenient way, i.e. is the vehicle pre-wired, would you have a suitable adapter harness, or is it not necessary at all when I visit the dealer for the software update - or do you have any other suggestion? Thanks in advance and best regards

In order for the trailer wiring of the Stealth Hitches hitch and wiring tow kit part # SH67FRT to be active on your 2018 Volvo V90 you would need to make a quick trip to a dealer to have them activate the wiring on your vehicle.

Your vehicle does not have factory wiring for a brake controller like the P3 part # 90195 so you'd have to do some hardwiring to make this work. For a wiring kit to install the brake controller to the 7-way you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied and none when not applied. This will be the circuit you will run the red wire to. Finally you will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The # 10-1-1 is sold by the foot so you will need to order a quantity of the amount of feet you will need. I attached an FAQ on installing brake controllers for you to check out.
