Determining Which Size Screws Should Be Used To Install Tow-Rax Strap Hanger TWSP25SHA

Question:

what size tek screws do you recommend to mount these type of hangers to enclosed cargo trailers? there is a 1/4inch thick wood interior skin and then what is the size of the metal tubing behind it in a normal car hauler trailer?

The Tow-Rax Strap Hanger - Aluminum - 17" Long x 4-1/2" Tall x 3" Deep # TWSP25SHA you were looking at does not have holes already in it for mounting, so you will need to drill the holes to the size of the screws you are using.

Since this is just for storing straps and is not a tie down point any size screws will be fine, but getting one or two into the metal framing on the trailer wall will be the best choice to make sure it stays secure for years to come.

There is not a standard size of tubing using to frame a trailer, so you will want to error on the side of using a shorter screw than a longer screw. Since you mentioned that the trailer has 1/4" wood I wouldn't use a screw much longer than 1/4", as if you use too long of a screw you could drill through the exterior wall as well.

I included a video review of the # TWSP25SHA for you to take a look at.
