Expert Reply:

To install the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down with Backing Plate, part # RR5K, you will drill a 3-1/4 inch hole in the plywood floor for the tie-down to be recessed into the plywood floor. Then, you will mark where the holes for the 4 bolts are to be located and drill 4 holes for the bolts. The backing plate will install underneath the plywood floor using the 2-1/4 inch long bolts that go through the 4 holes and use lock washers and nuts. The backing plate is 6-1/2 inches x 6-1/2 inches so it would not be able to go through the 3-1/4 inch size hole. You will need to have access to the underside of the trailer to install the backing plate and tighten the bolts and nuts.

I have the E-Track Trailer Cargo Control, part # EM59150, that can be attached to the plywood floor or the framing of the trailer using wood screws or sheet metal screws. The number of screws to use would depend on how much weight you are trying to tie-down. The more points you can contact the frame, the more secure your load would be.

I am including a link to a product page that will list all of the E-Track parts that are available.
