Rail and Hitch Location for Curt 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch in a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed

location of curtis 16k fifth wheel for 2001 2500 hd chev short box please give me exact deminsion from front or back of bed and c/l from axle for above subject vehicle?

On a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500HD short bed, if you measure from the rear edge of the bed forward 47-1/2 inches, that is where the back edge of the rear rail will be for installation kit # C16418-204. You would then use the hitch to place the forward rail. The hitch center line will be 1-1/2 inches forward of the center of the rear axle.
If you measure from 1-1/2 inches forward of the rear axle to the back of the truck cab and then add 12 inches (the travel distance of the slider, # 16516). This measurement has to be at least 4 inches more than half the width of the trailer overhang to safely make 90 degree turns.
