Replacing Boat Trailer Bunk Boards With Roller Bunks For 21' Alumacraft Boat

Question:

Im looking at converting my new bunk trailer to rollers, and I am sure I need the heavy duty 3000# 3 roller sets, is my only option Galvanized, or is there an aluminum option, the boat is a 21 foot Alumacraft with a 250 on back. I was considering just the front bunks, but maybe I would have to do the all the bunks-? I was thinking I would attach to wood bunks, but this would raise my boat even higher correct-? Maybe I should consider removing the bunks, and attach with brackets -?

The Dutton-Lainson Boat Trailer Deluxe Roller Bunk # DL21741 are the best option for your Boat trailer. These are only available in the Galvanized steel frame currently. I would recommend using all rollers on your boat trailer so that the boat will be much smoother loading and unloading.

If you choose to attach these to your current bunk boards this will raise your boat 2-1/2" which is the height of the rollers with the frame. Remember that as the rollers will allow the boat to load and unload with much less resistance as compared to the bunk boards that you will not need as much of the trailer in the water to properly launch or retrieve the boat.

I recommend installing the rollers with the Boat Trailer Roller Bunk Bracket # DL21742. This will prevent you from having to replace the bunk boards when they begin to rot.
