Recommended Trailer Wheel and Tire Upgrade To Radial On Jet Ski Trailer With 4.80R12 Tires

Question:

Upgrade 4-80-12 to 13 Inch on EZ Loader Jet Ski Trailer I have a EZ Loader Jet Ski trailer that I need to do a lot of highway driving with. Id like to upgrade to radials with a speed rating of 75MPH plus if possible. I have 4-80-12 bias ply tires on now that are a few years old. What would you all recommend? I would prefer a black wheel, but anything that will get more MPH and fit on the trailer I am open to. Axel is rated to 1560 LBS.

I recommend replacing your tires with the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C. These radial tires have a speed rating M(81mph) and are rated for 990lbs of load per tire which is more than enough for your EZ Loader Jet Ski Trailer. You can mount these on your current wheels as they are still the same size and you will not have to worry about clearance issues.

If you are to go with the Westlake ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 13" Black Mod Wheel # LHAX097 you will need to verify that you will have enough clearance. This wheel and tire will be 1-1/8" wider on each side and 3-3/8" taller or 1-11/16" higher in the wheel well. The speed rating on this tire is L(75mph). With the maximum load being 1,360lbs per tire they will tend to bounce more than the smaller tire due to a stiffer sidewall. The wheel uses a 5 on 4-1/2" lug bolt pattern that you will want to verify matches your current pattern on your trailer. If not you may also need to swap to different hubs as there is not a 4 on 4 for the 13" wheel that we currently carry.
