Question:

I have a 5x8 utility trailer with 4.80 x12 carrier star tires. What are the best size to use if I want to use them on the highway for 3 hrs drives. Want tires that won’t over heat driving at 70-75 mph

You are definitely going to need radial tires for highway speeds and the best option is the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C.

Radial trailer tires are constructed in a manner so they have cords which run at 90 degrees to the direction of travel. This ensures it will flex more than a bias tire, which means it has more traction, stability and will run cooler, allowing it to last longer and making it the best option for highway travel.

The Taskmaster # TT48012C is a 4.80 x 12 radial tire that fits 12" x 4" wheels and has a speed rating of M, which is 81 mph. This tire has a load range of C with a capacity of 990 lbs when inflated to 90 psi, so if your utility trailer has a GVWR of 1,980 lbs or less a pair of these tires would be perfect for you.

I have added a link to a video review of these tires for you to check out as well.
