Class 5 Hitch For A 2002 Chevrolet Express Van

Question:

What would be the best high capacity class 5 hitch for my 2002 Chevrolet 3500 Express / cutaway with a Transtar 22foot handicap bus body? I have 4inch of from the bottom of my frame rails to the bottom of the rear bumper. Your hitch # 3371801102 looks like it has 7inch of . Way more than I want, causing severe dragging issues at the road / driveway transitions here in Florida. My Cinch shape frame rails have a bottom flange width of 3, and across, they measure from 35 3/4inch at the closest dimension, to 42 1/4inch 41 3/4inch id at the widest. I am wondering if your #15320 hitch would be a better fit, with its 4inch ? I can trim the bottom of my bumper as needed.... Thank you, Phil

Helpful Expert Reply:

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class V XD - 2" # C15320 is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and the bottom of the 2" receiver would be 4" from the bottom of your frame so this hitch has the best ground clearance for you. The Buyers Products 2" Hitch Receiver For GM Express/Savana with Cutaway Chassis Item # 3371801102 is not a confirmed fit for your vehicle and has the 7" drop that you were not wanting.

The C15320 hitch has a 16,000lbs maximum tow weight capacity but you'll need to check your vehicle's owner's manual for the max tow capacity and go with whichever is lower.
