How To Upgrade Weight Distribution System From 2" Shank to 2-1/2"
Question:
I have a 2020 Chevy 3500HD High Country. The factory receiver hitch is a 21/2 with a 2 adapter. With the 2 adapter installed there is a lot of play when the trailer shank and hitch is ed. Trailer has a 10000lb GVWR Would it be better to get a a 2/12 shank shank? I do have a clamp that is supposed to reduce the play but not sure which is the best way to go. Thank you.

It sounds like you're using a weight distribution system and in which case the best option and what many others do as well is ditch the 2 to 2-1/2" adapter in favor of a 2-1/2" shank which will be less parts and far more secure/durable. The good news is that no matter which system you have, you can use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank part # EQ90-02-4800.
I have attached a full list of 2-1/2" shank options below as well.
