Hitch for Carrying Mobility Scooter With 2018 Nissan Sentra
Question:
I just bought a used 2018 Nissan Sentra SV. I need to install a hitch that will hold my mobility scooter. The Salesman at Carmax told me to get one that clamps on as opposed to one that needs drilling. Can you explain/ suggest what I should get?

Years ago, hitches were available that would clamp onto the bumper of a vehicle. Those pretty much went out of vogue once vehicles stopped using steel bumpers, so we don't currently carry anything like that.
What's used now are frame mounted hitches that would bolt into the underside of the frame member just forward of the rear bumper, like the Draw-Tite # 24907 Class I hitch. The hitch would work well with your Sentra SV, but the hitch has a tongue weight capacity (maximum amount of downward force the hitch can safely withstand) of 200 lbs, which means that the combined weight of the scooter and the carrier can't be more than 200 lbs. If your scooter and carrier's combined weight falls under the 200 lb mark, this hitch would be a great choice.
If your scooter and carrier weigh more than 200 lbs, your best bet would be a small cargo trailer like # K2MMT4X6.
