Trailer Solution to Carry a 17' Kayak and 2 Bikes At The Same Time

Question:

I have a 17 foot tandem kayak that weighs about 80 lb. I would like to purchase a suitable single trailer. I haul with a 6 cylinder Outback, so weight is not an issue. If possible, wed also like to haul our two bikes at the same time....this is not a problem if that is not possible. Looking for suggestions. Thanks!

Don't worry Dave, we have everything you need. The Malone LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LB will allow you to carry boats up to 20' long and can support up to 500lbs on the crossbars. So with the Bunk Kit # MPG561 and 2 Bike Racks # MPG2100 you will be able to carry your Kayak and 2 bikes.

Thanks bud Very helpful. Could you price all of that out including a small winch and anything else you’d recommend?

@DaveD You are going to want to add all the parts to your cart and then you are going to be able to see the total with shipping and sales tax based on your zip code. I am not able to provide you with a exact dollar amount. You really do not need a winch as the kayak will easily slide on the bunk boards. You are not going to want to try loading and unloading the kayak on a boat ramp by backing into the water due to the height of the trailer.

@BudM Thanks. Just to confirm, will there be enough room for the two bikes, one on either side? I assume I'll need to order two bike racks? This looks good. Dave

@Dave Yes, the crossbars are 78" wide so there is going to be plenty of roof for your Kayak and the 2 bikes. You are going to need to order 2 bike racks. Depending on how you plan to use the trailer you might have the 2 bikes on one side of the kayak which will make removing the kayak easier while leaving the bikes on the trailer.
