Trouble With Rusted Weld Nuts on etrailer Hitch e98865
Question:
I’m having trouble with the bolts even after cleaning them like the videos says, the threads start stripping about a 1/2 in or so but a smaller bolt I have in my garage works but I can’t use it for safety purposes.

It can take a pretty significant cleaning process to completely clean out the weld nuts for installation on a hitch like the Draw-Tite # 76028. You can use a wire brush like # 814092 like you did but if it wasn't enough you'll need to take an extra step.
As you can see from the cut out I added of the linked help article, what you'll want to do is, while the hole is still lubricated, use a ratcheting wrench and run the bolt in and out slowly, which should loosen the corrosion and allow you to continue the install. The only other option would be to use a thread tap to carefully clean them out, though I recommend trying the lubricant and running the bolt in and out before going on to that step.
