The Malone SeaWing # MPG107MD would be an inexpensive but excellent choice when paired with the Malone # MPG350 Stinger Load Assist. The carrier and load assist are meant for kayaks, but as long as your canoe weighs less than the 75 lb weight capacity of the carrier and load assist, it would work just fine for you.

The load assist mounts to the underside of the rear most cradle of the SeaWing kayak carrier. When loading, all you'd need to do is slide the load assist rearward until the V block is extending just past the rear edge of the roof. Lean the nose of the canoe up against the V block, lift the rear of the canoe and push it forward until it's centered on the cradles as shown in the provided instructions.

If your Mercedes GLE 350 doesn't have crossbars, easily add them. I really like the Rhino Rack Stealth Bar system, part # JA8343. The crossbars fit neatly between the roof side rails, providing an OEM appearance. If you wanted a less expensive option, the Malone AirFlow2, part # MPG216 is a reasonably priced option. They don't have the OEM appearance of the Rhino Rack roof rack but it's a good quality product that would work well for you.

I've linked to product demonstration videos for the SeaWing kayak carrier and the Stinger Load Assist.
