2012 Hyundai Tucson

i have yet to use my cargo carrier on back but hitch installed easily. However not easy to do alone because heavy to hold up. I didn’t even need to lower my muffler to install which saved time. Going on a road trip soon so hopefully no problems.

Still works great.

In general this looks very sturdy.Installed it on 2014 Hyundai Tucson Limited. I did have hard time with aligning the holes with the frame. Some serious hammering was required to bend the lip of the frame on both sides in order to make it fit.I am glad that i bought the hitch but it wasn't plug and play on my vehicle. It took me good 2 hrs.

It sounds like that the side brackets were knocked out of alignment which can happen while in transit to our facility or to you. We do have a FAQ that can assist with moving the side brackets of the hitch back into alignment to allow for installation.

After trying one other product which did not fit the car, it was a relief to have this one bolted on as advertised, put on my Thule bike rack and take off. It does not change the appearance of the vehicle because it's black as is the car trim. Very happy!

I drive a 2016 Kia Spirtage. I ordered this trailer hitch and it arrived promptly 2 days later. I installed it myself and I did not remove my muffler! It's a tad bit tricky getting it around the left side of the muffler but once you do, it's a snap installing. It took me about 25 minutes total for installation and this is my first time installing a hitch. I love this hitch and will utilize it with my bike rack. Thank you etrailer for your prompt service and top notch quality hitch!

The entire customer experience was awesome! From the website tools, to ordering, shipping (fast) and installation video. Great quality product as well. The powder coating (black) is still shiny after a year.

I installed this in about 30 minutes!

Thanks !

I should've posted this review a long time ago!

2014 Hyundai Tucson

The video on how to install the receiving hitch helped a lot. The only problem we had was the metal hanger in the rubber isolator. It did not want to come out! We finally got it, and everything was smooth sailing after that. The hitch looks great!

We love our hitch and bike rack we use it all year long, we take our bikes everywhere, the tilting rack makes everything in the car easy to access, love it very affordable fun

2015 Kia Sportage

Received my product in a very timely amount of time. Being a novice at installing such products I set out to do it. I got all my tools together and from start to finish it took me a total of 23 minutes to install. That included dropping the exhaust and putting it back up. Ready to tow with my 2015 KIA SPORTAGE. Great product.

by:
2010 Hyundai Tucson

Easy install with my cousin about 15 minutes, fits perfect, couldn’t ask for better service, plan to use my new bike rack with the family for some outdoor fun

Everything installed very easily and the provided videos on the website was very helpful...couldn't have asked for anything better. The hitch fir perfectly

by:
2011 Hyundai Tucson

Easy to install. Everything lines up perfectly. Bolts torqued to specs and I’m ready to go. Great product.

by:

The trailer hitch receiver was easy to install. I did not need to drop the exhaust pipe, but I did need an extra pair of hands to pull the bumper cover piece outward while fitting it into position. Installed easily with the four bolts and have not had any problems. I have been using it for a year now to carry bicycles.

by:

Really easy to install and look great at my suv, I’m really happy, and you guys are great I made my order the 23rd of august and I receive my hitch the 25th of august awesome service

by:

Super easy to install. They say 30 minutes and because of videos I had it installed in 18 minutes! Way cheaper than having a a company install it.

by:

Directions say to drop down the exhaust. However, I just wiggled it up and into place. Fit perfectly. 2014 Kia Sportage LX.
Thanks. Good products from good people.

2013 Hyundai Tucson

Installed Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver on 2013 Hyundai Tucson. I was delighted with the product, instructions and ease of installation! I had no helpers available, and since I've installed other hitches on other trucks (including one on the front of a Dodge 3500), it seemed pretty straight-forward thanks to the well-written instructions. I used a floor jack to support and move the hitch into position. I removed only the left (passenger) side muffler support since my car has but one tailpipe, and was able to slide the hitch between the frame and tailpipe with little effort. Total time to install and torque the bolts - about 30 minutes. The electrical wiring is like a "plug 'n play", so I'll do that later!
Suggestions: Read the instructions, then read them again! "Walk through" the process so you know the steps involved. Drive your vehicle backward onto a set of ramps, if available, to give yourself more room. Have a glass of Chateau neuf du Pape awaiting after your excellent work!

Ive used the hitch just a few times since installation - but that was expected. I wanted to be prepared for future use using a trailer for moving into my new home mid-January! The hitch is a perfect fit and finish. The wiring was a bit bewildering until I realized the tail connector resides in the tire well when not in use. I had expected it to somehow mount on the exterior body- work.. Remember also to string in the fused wire from the battery to the trailer connector. If not installed, you could easily overload the existing taillight circuit! All works well! BTW Chardonnay is the preferred wine as it goes better with the MaroonRed color of the car - but remember Do Not Drink and Drive!

Cruising the internet a few days ago looking for hitches and wiring I came across etrailer.com and found the wiring and hitch that I needed for my 2016 Kia Sportage. I placed and order and within an hour my order had shipped. Three days later it was on my doorstep. Two days later the wiring harness and hitch have been installed. The hitch mounts up and tucked out of sight. The wiring is installed and the trailer lights all work properly. The installation videos are easy to follow step by step. I highly recommend this company.

You are welcome. Based on my recommendation my son in law also bought one from you. Greetings from South Florida.

by:

Everything was as described. The videos were very helpful. The only point where I needed help (other than a second person helping during the install) was tightening the nut on the ball where it mounts to the tongue. This requires a LARGE wrench. A local muffler/radiator shop was glad to do it and didn't even charge me. I have used the hitch several times now and on one occasion pulled a U-Haul trailer full of furniture from south Florida to north Texas. On another occasion I pulled a trailer that was VERY heavily loaded with flooring about 50 miles over some very uneven roads. The hitch has always performed perfectly. Could not be happier with the product or the company.

Still working !

by:
2014 Kia Sportage

The instructions said 15 min install; I had it in just under. Rather than drop the whole exhaust system, I was able to get by just dropping the passenger side muffler mount (you can get this off without taking anything else apart; takes a little elbow grease but it will slide far enough to work) slipping the hitch up the passenger side and getting a bolt on while holding the other side up with my leg. Once I had the passenger bolts started I popped the other side in, pulled the hitch as far to the driver side as possible to make extra clearance for the muffler and tail pipe, and torqued them down to the recommended specs. I also put some loctite on for good measure; I always do this when I install a hitch on something. In all, a solid built hitch that fits up easy.

The hitch and wiring are still going strong! Ive had no issues at all.

by:
2015 Kia Sportage

Out of the 3 hitches I have installed, the hitch part, is by far the easiest I have seen.

The Kia Sportage I installed it on, has holes with nuts pre-installed from the factory. All you have to do is simply hold it up and bolt it in.

I didn't need to loosen the muffler hangers. I just held one side up with my arm, and loosely threaded in one bolt, without the compression washer.

with one side held up, I went over to the other side, and fed the tow hitch through the space between the plastic facia, and the muffler, and again finger threaded a bolt into the hole, without the washer, but at the opposite corner.

Once the hitch was loosely held in place, I could thread the other two bolts in with the washer, and then go back and put washers on the bolts at the opposite corners.

I did not drive the back of the car up on ramps. I was laying on the driveway.

it was literally 15 minutes at most to install, and there was no need for helpers, or a floor jack.

Perfect!

2015 Kia Sportage

Easy to install. Very easy. Ordered hitch for my Sportage LX and it works great.
The instructions seemed to have been for a Sportage SX, as they instructed me to remove the exhaust to install the hitch. I just ignored the instructions and was able to install hitch by myself (although 2 people is recommended) in about 15 minutes.
I have used my Thule hitch and 2 bikes on it several times and no issues with the hitch itself.

Hitch is holding up great, have not even had to tighten or maintain the hitch at all. It is showing initial signs of rusting in the receiver tube. I live near the Atlantic Ocean, so more humidity and salt than other places. Overall happy with the product and would recommend.

I have included a link that we have for one of our help articles regarding rust prevention and maintenance for your reference. We generally recommend some light sanding to remove any surface rust, and then touch up as needed with a high quality enamel spray paint.

2013 Kia Sportage

I am a very satisfied customer. Not only am I pleased with the ease of installation of the hitch but more pleased about the timely delivery. Just yesterday morning I did a web search for any alerts that the item had been shipped to no avail, then when I came home from work last night there it was waiting for me at the front door.
If anyone I know or meet should be looking for a hitch for their vehicle I will most assuredly recommend etrailer.com.

2016 Kia Sportage

The product appears to be adequately designed and constructed. The powder coat was smooth and free of chips and cracks so I feel it will be well protected from the winter salt. The mounting hardware appears sufficient for the application. The fitment was spot on, there were no clearance issues or modifications to be made. Installation was simple and took less than 30 minutes. The instructions are very detailed and were easy to read and follow. I believe the product will perform as claimed by the manufacturer. I have yet to use the product as intended by the manufacturer so I am unable to give five stars. However, for initial quality, fit, and ease of installation my expectations have been met.

John G.

Over the last year this product has lived up to my expectations. The quality is very good and even after a long winter of salt it still looks good. I am pleased and have no issues to report.

Be sure to verify through your Kia dealer the maximum tongue weight allowed for your specific Sportage. This is a bolt on installation that does not require any additional drilling on your frame. Since you measured from top of the coupler you'd need to remove right at 2 inches from 21 so you'd have from 12-1/2 inches to 19 inches which is 6-1/2 inches.
