Will Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Pin Box # 325-GH-8045 Void Trailer Warranty?

I am shopping for a new 5th wheel and several dealers are telling me they cannot install a Gen-Y Gooseneck pin box as it will void the trailer warranty. They instead want to sell me a Reese Goosebox that I do not want. Can you comment on their warranty claim? Also, how do I ensure I am ordering the right Gen-Y setup for my trailer? What do I need to know?

The Gen-Y Hitch 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter Pin Box # 325-GH-8045 would not void your warranty on your trailer. There are some adapters out there that could void your warranty depending on the trailer manufacturer, such as the Convert-a-ball 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G, which changes the connection point and could put additional stress on the frame.
These Gen-Y Adapters are designed to replace Lippert 1621 and 1621 HD 5th-wheel pin boxes and each one has a specific weight rating. If you have one of these Lippert pin boxes, all you need is the gross vehicle weight rating on your trailer to determine which one is right for you. The # 325-GH-8045 you were looking at has a 21,000 lb weight rating, so if your gross trailer weight comes in under that, you would be good to go.
