Does the Equal-i-zer Offer More Sway Control Than the Fastway e2

Question:

I have a 2017 RAM 1500 5.7L truck and a 30 foot travel trailer. I have a 1,200LB Equalizer e2 trunnion bar anti-sway weight distribution hitch attached, but I still get sway*. I added the Hayes Swaymaster to mitigate this problem, but it broke after one trip. Hayes sent me a new one. It burnt out very quickly also. My question is, what can I do to further reduce dangerous trailer sway on a regular basis over 62MPH? Is the Equalizer e4 significantly better than the e2? Can I add something like a Reese friction anti-sway bar to my current e2 equalizer hitch? Is the Tucson electronic sway controller reliable and effective at reducing significant and constant trailer sway? *Trailer tongue weight is at 12. e2 hitch is properly adjusted. All tires are properly inflated. The e2 hitch and Hayes controller purchased from etrailer. Thank you!

Expert Reply:

Yes, the Equal-i-zer is significantly better than the Fastway e2 because the Equal-i-zer has four points of sway control and the Fastway e2 only has two points of sway control so there will be a much greater reduction in trailer sway. This will be the best option as far as control and stability goes, I recommend the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System part # EQ37121ET which lets you use your old shank.

The Tuson Asymmetric Sway Control # 335TSC-1000 is a very reliable system that fights trailer sway using the brakes. This is my personal favorite electric sway control device.

Unfortunately, you wouldn't be able to add a friction sway control bar to the Fastway e2.
