Can I Replace 4 Leaf Springs With 5 Leaf Springs For The Axle On My Trailer
Question:
I have narrowed down what parts i need by looking up stock numbers on data plates found on the OEM equiped parts. The springs that are on the 5th wheel travel trailer are 3000 lb, 4 leaf, double eye, 25.125inch x 1.75. Can i replace them with 5 leaf, 25.25, 3000lb springs? Do i gain anything by going with 5 leafs vs 4 leafs? The length difference would be +1/4inch total. 2005 KZ Durango 275rk. 10,000 lb gross. Tandem axles, AL-KO T52, 5200lbs Springs are part #93115, 4 leaf, double eye, 3000lb, 25.125x1.75. Equalizer is part #EQ 310, 4inch tall x 6inch wide. Replaced stock 15inch wheels with 16inch wheels with LT tires.

Yes, you can replace your 4 Leaf Springs with 5 Leaf Springs like part # e34SR as long as you replace all of the springs at the same time.
There really isn't any advantage if you want to go with 5 leaf springs over 4 leaf springs. Typically, you always want to try to get the same parts to replace what you already have, but 1/8 of an inch difference per leaf spring won't make much of a difference in how everything fits together. The 5 leaf springs will work just fine for you.
We also have a replacement Shackle Bolt # 166081, and a U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-8 in case you were needing to change out those, and the Triangular Equalizer # EQ310 for double eye springs as well.
