The best trailer hitch for your 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 will vary depending on what you're going to use it for and possibly whether you have an 8 ft. or 6-1/2 ft. bed. If you need to haul a lot of weight I would suggest the Curt Class V CD 2-1/2" # C15703. This will get the most out of your truck for your dollar and will work with either length of truck beds. The Curt Class III # 13208 will also work with both bed lengths and would be more appropriate if you're not hauling as much weight.

I recommend an adjustable ball mount since the rise and drop requirement can be different depending on your trailer. If you choose to go with a Class V trailer hitch then the Curt Adjustable 2-Ball Mount - 2-1/2" Hitch # C45902 is a great choice. It has two different size hitch balls that can be switched depending on how much you are hauling. If you choose the Class III trailer hitch then the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount # C45900 will fit and also has both size hitch balls.

I have attached an installation video for the Curt Class V hitch as well as a review video of the Curt ball mounts you can take a look at. There is also a help article titled "Choosing the Correct Ball Mount" If you aren't interested in an adjustable ball mount.
