Can I Use Existing Switch on Ford F-250 to Install Power On/Off of Custom 3rd Brake Light Camera

Question:

The video mentions small parts that might be needed as well, do you have a list of those part numbers?

Yes. There is no reason that you can't just use the upfitter switch in your Ford F-250 to connect the power of the Custom 3rd Brake Light Camera # 3460006 instead of installing a new switch. I've linked an installation video we did that you can use as a reference, as well.

I have a 2011 F450 Lariat, I have replaced the oem tailgate with an RV Custom Flow tailgate so I no longer have need for the original tailgate camera in the handle, can this camera system be attached to the original wiring harness so it comes on when truck is placed in reverse? I need the camera to show the fifth wheel hitch when connecting/disconnecting from a trailer. The original tailgate camera harness only had three wires attached.

We do not have schematics to know if such a project is possible. The camera mentioned in the article seems like the best solution since you don't need your rear view mirror when hitched anyway.

Yes! The additional installation parts mentioned in the installation video are as follows: 16 gauge wire # 16-1-1 Butt connectors # DW05714 Ring Terminal Butt Connector # DW05702-1 Self Tapping Screws # FA1131822 Fuse Tap # F2526 The mini fuses mentioned would need to be sourced locally from an auto parts store, but everything else is listed above!
