Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2000 Nissan Frontier SE 2 Door Extended Cab

Question:

Hello I would like to install a trailer wiring kit in my 2000 Nissan Frontier SE - this is the 4x4 model with a V6 and two-door extended cab. Your web site lists two kits for this vehicle: #33515 Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for the 2000 Nissan Frontier and #118362 Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring for the 2000 Nissan Frontier Q1: What is the difference between these kits? Q2: Do you have a particular recommendation? Q3: Do these kits need a separate 12V power supply, or do they draw their power directly from the same modular connectors that plug into the vehicle wiring harness? I.e. will I need to run a wire to the battery or fuse panel to power the kits device? Thanks!

The Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Wiring Harness, # 33515, and the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118362, are very similar wiring harnesses. Other than the fact that they are made by two different manufacturers, the only difference between these two wiring harnesses is having the ability to disconnect the 4-way flat connector from the converter box on the Hopkins harness.

My recommendation would be the Tow Ready T-One wiring harness. This wiring harness is more economical in price and will perform the same as the Hopkins wiring harness. They both use the same connection points so the installation process is the same.

These wiring harnesses do not require you to run a power wire to your vehicle battery or fuse panel to power the converter. I have attached links to the installation instructions for both wiring harnesses for you to check out.
