Hopkins Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - 33515

  • Trailer Hitch Wiring

  • Hopkins

Quickly and easily install a 4-way trailer connector on your vehicle with this custom harness. T-connector plugs directly into existing wiring - no cutting or splicing required.

Features:

  • Provides a 4-way flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer's signal lights
    • Compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole and 7-pole adapters (sold separately)
  • Connects quickly and easily - no cutting or splicing
    • Locate connection point behind rear bumper
    • Plug in connector
  • Includes a tail light converter to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer
  • Protective connection terminals resist corrosion
  • Comes with dust cap for 4-way flat connector, cable ties, and terminal grease packet for electrical connections
  • 90-Day limited warranty

Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind your rear bumper, near the passenger's-side frame rail.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

Much better than splicing wires.

@Terry A plug and play solution is definitely preferable, if the option is available for your vehicle!

No cutting wires. Installs in less than 5 minutes. Worth every penny! Don't waste time trying to find the right wire. There is no guess work with this Wiring Harness.

by:

I’ve ordered several of these over the last several years. That’s the only problem…I have to replace the adapter every couple years. Wish they would last longer

EXACTLY correct in every respect. But, there's more.
The picture above is EXACTLY what arrived, and SOONER than expected.
It mounted EXACTLY into the existing pigtails.
The plug was EXACTLY were pictured in the online illustration on the etrailer website and in the instructions.
Plug grease was supplied and used. The extension was an unexpected plus as now it will rarely if ever be necessary to unplug from the unit itself.
I secured the whole wiring assembly in a vibration resistant mounting and away from any possible moving parts.

The regular incandescent bulbs are now at correct brightness, and LED's that I bought at local auto supply are less bright than original bulbs.

Great job by the etrailer team, and great follow through.

Works great. Got rid of dangling scotch locks hitch installer used. Much better.

by:
2004 Nissan Frontier

took only a few minutes to hookup. every thing fit plug &play.works great.towed a motorcycle trailer 5,000 miles with out any problems, electrical or otherwise.I would say if you need to wire to pull a trailer and buy another product from some other source you will have made a very poor decision. I love this product and will buy again when i get a new truck.

It is still working great.I do not use it every day,but i know that when i do i will do the job flawlessly.Yes if i need one for another truck, i will buy the same brand again.

2000 Nissan Frontier

Great service and the part worked perfe ctly.

by:
2002 Nissan Frontier

Without a doubt, this item is a perfect fit for my 2002 Nissan Frontier,
and works as advertised and expected for my new 8x5 trailer.

I spent far more time washing the mud and limerock out from under
the truck just to find the truck wiring harness than I did actually installing
the kit! No problems.

This type of connector is always superior to cutting into wires to attach a
trailer light. I used plenty of tie wraps to keep wires from hanging down,
since I tend to travel over wild terrain.

Thanks again,
Mr Brown

The Product:

Plug-N-Town harness
was just what I was looking for; it was easy to install and works with my truck's factory wiring. Couldn't ask for a better product.

The People:

The fine folks at etrailer.com kept me informed through the whole ordering and shipping process. There was a slight delay in shipping and they let me know immediately and offered alternative solutions to make sure I got the parts in time for my camping trip. I was particular happy with the fact that the same customer service representative spoke to me every time. It made the whole thing that much easier. Thanks for your help Cole S.

by:

Customer service when placing the order was exceptional thanks to Heather H. The order arrived promptly and all parts installed and operated flawlessly. I originally purchased the hitch frame from eTrailer in 2004 to primarily mount a bicycle rack. 12 years later, when preparing to tow a trailer, the eTrailer service was still excellent and the wiring harness for my vehicle was still stocked and available.

Thank You eTrailer

I installed this wiring harness on my 2004 Nissan Frontier SE 4x2 (long box) pickup. I chose eTrailer.com for the Model 33515 wiring harness because Nissan has discontinued the part and it is no longer available through them.

I normally install only genuine Nissan parts on my truck, but I made a wise decision going with eTrailer.com's wiring harness. It was a flawless installation and a perfect fit. eTrailer.com provided a high-quality product with excellent instructions, perfectly fitting connectors, and even included a couple of zip ties and some electrical contact grease with the kit. Those are the little things that let you know you are dealing with a quality company!

I highly recommend eTrailer.com for any of your towing needs. Outstanding product and service. I'm a believer. Thanks!

I never thought i could wire a trailer to my truck but i looked up some videos on it and ordered what i needed from etrailer.com. Thanks etrailer, you made it so simple. I really appreciate it!

2010 Nissan Frontier

The Plug & Tow Wiring harness worked perfectly in my '04 Nissan Frontier. Took 2 minutes to plug in and another 10 minutes to tie down with plastic ties. Works great.

I was also pleased that the shipping was prompt.

by:

Received harness 3 days after ordering. The install was quick. Biggest
problem I had was removing the old corroded harness. Have not checked
with trailer yet but anticipate no problems. A big plus was the inclusion of
a tube of dielectric grease for the connectors.

by:
2001 Nissan Frontier

I purchased this after getting another brand that did not work (from
a different company), and ordering a factory unit from a Nissan dealer,
only to find out a week later that Nissan discontinued that part. It took
10 minutes to plug in your "Plug & Tow" and check to see that it worked correctly, and 10 minutes to go back under the vehicle to
secure the wiring with plastic ties. Thanks.

secure the wiring with plastic ties. Thanks." />

This converter is 100 percent better built than the 1st 1 I bought a year ago . Which shorted out for no reason . I can't remember the name brand of the cheaper converter but steer away from the cheap unit . This Hopkins model will last a while . I recommend this converter .

It was made very well and fit perfectly. Thank you etrailer for the exceptional product and the excellent service. I will be ordering more from you in the future.

  • Wiring Harness for 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited without Factory Tow Package
The reason that the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # 33515 keeps tripping out the computer on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is because this harness is not a fit for your vehicle; it is only a fit for 1998 - 2004 Nissan Frontiers, 1998 Nissan Quests and 1998 Mercury Villagers. For your '17 Wrangler Unlimited, it seems likely you do not have the factory tow package so for that I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118416....

  • Brake and Turn Signals Not Functioning when Taillights are Activated on a 2003 Nissan Frontier
The situation you are describing sounds like a classic ground issue. When the tail lights are on the amperage draw is the greatest and if the grounding point chosen is not sufficient the lighting will not function properly. Since you have tried two harnesses from different manufacturers and have tried different grounding locations, I would try running the ground wire from the Tow Ready wiring harness, # 118362, to the negative post of the vehicle battery. If this solves the issue, you...

  • Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for a 2000 Nissan Frontier SE 2 Door Extended Cab
The Hopkins Plug-N-Tow Wiring Harness, # 33515, and the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, # 118362, are very similar wiring harnesses. Other than the fact that they are made by two different manufacturers, the only difference between these two wiring harnesses is having the ability to disconnect the 4-way flat connector from the converter box on the Hopkins harness. My recommendation would be the Tow Ready T-One wiring harness. This wiring harness is more economical in price and will perform...

  • Trailer Lights Not Working After Installing the Hopkins Trailer Wiring on a 2003 Nissan Frontier
It sounds like the converter on your Hopkins wiring harness, # 33515, is not working correctly. The first step I would take is to use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993, to check the trailer plug on the wiring harness for proper function without a trailer connected. If there is power there when the brakes, turn signals and taillights are activated, then you know that the ground for the wiring is not connected properly, and you will need to check the vehicle connector and trailer wiring...

  • Location of the Electric Trailer Brake Controller Connection Port on a 2004 Nissan Frontier
From what I was able to learn, the connection point for the Hopkins Plug-in Simple Brake Wiring Adapter - Nissan, # HM47635, can be found underneath and left of the steering column, taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. There should be a 6-pin connector that mates with the one on the adapter. If you cannot find this port, and the truck did not come with a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector, you will probably need to install a 4-Way (if needed), # 33515, and then...

The part number 43515 is our part # 33515. We have quite a few reviews on this wiring harness where our customers have said that it worked well for them. I am sure we have a similar harness by a different manufacturer that you could try. But without knowing what vehicle you have it's hard for me to make a recommendation since the 43515 fits so many different vehicles. Is there a short on your trailer's wiring. Typically when a harness goes out it is because of a short on the trailer's...
