Replacing Curt Wiring That Blows Fuses on 2014 Honda CR-V
Question:
I installed a Curt wiring harness for my 2014 Honda CRV. It has worked for a few years but now is causes the fuse to blow for the signals and flasher. Once I removed it the signals are working. Have you encountered this before. Has Curt upgraded this product recently?

Curt does a really good job on the hitch side of things but when it comes to the electronic side of things they are definitely not my first choice simply because we tend to have more issues with their wiring simply giving out like what you experienced than with other brands.
For your 2014 Honda CR-V I recommend replacing the Curt # C56158 with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118561 because we have found that the Tekonsha wiring tends to be the most reliable. This installs the exact same way as the Curt with the exception of connecting the module to the harness which is a simply plug-in style. I know that Curt has been putting in some effort into making their wiring better but at this point in time I'd still go with the Tekonsha.
Attached are the written instructions and a video with the installation on a 2014 CR-V that you can check out.
